Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)

Building data algorithms to support consumer decision making

The UK’s journey towards net zero requires consumer knowledge and understanding of low-carbon alternatives for home heating and cooling. DESNZ’s turned to Panlogic to improve how citizens inform themselves when deciding if heat pumps are suitable for their homes.

Building on a discovery and blueprinting stage, we stripped back and simplified the web questionnaire. Using data from Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), postcode data and user-inputted data about their homes and needs, the newly developed tool simplifies how users make informed decisions.

We then finalised the user experience through testing with users before building the back-end logic and front-end input screens using Whitehall Publisher. We provide ongoing supported hosting to maintain the service.
